COVID-19 threw a spanner in the works for the hospitality industry. Faced with the uncertainty of shifting restrictions, this is an incredibly challenging time for many. These latest measures put in place intend to ease some of the financial and emotional pressures while lockdowns are in place. To help you work out what to do next and to find when you’ll start seeing payments in your account, we’ve unpacked the latest information for you below.

WHAT HELP IS AVAILABLE?

The NSW & Federal Government has announced a significant new support package to assist businesses and workers through the current NSW Lockdown.

You are eligible for this one-off grant if:

  • You are a business, sole trader or non-for profit organisation.

  • You have been impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions.

How do you apply?

1. Head to the Service NSW website.

2. Find the page titled ‘Apply for the 2021 COVID-19 Business grant’.

3. Select ‘Apply Online’ and follow the instructions provided. You will need relevant documentation so ensure you have that nearby.

what documents will i need?

  • MyServiceNSW Account

  • Proof of identity (eg. Driver’s License, Passport)

  • Valid ABN/ANC Number

  • Business banking details for payment

  • Income Tax Return or Notice of Assessment

  • Qualified accountant, registered tax agent or registered BAS agent details

HOW MUCH IS THE GRANT?

$7,500 (tier one): Businesses that have experienced a decline in turnover of 30% or more due to the Public Health Orders will be eligible for a grant of $7,500.

$10,500 (tier two): Businesses that have experienced a decline in turnover of 50% or more due to the Public Health Orders will be eligible for a grant of $10,500.

$15,000 (tier three): Businesses that have experienced a decline in turnover of 70% or more due to the Public Health Orders will be eligible for a grant of $15,000.

Need extra support?

As businesses will begin to adapt and settle to the new norm of COVID-19, managers, hospitality owners and employees, will all have felt the effect of the pandemic on their mental wellbeing. 

However, specifically designed help for hospitality owners is available.

Beyond Blue has recognised that the Foodservice Industry is in need of a helping hand, so they have created a return to work mental health guide for hospitality business owners. They have also curated a guide on how managers and business owners can manage their mental health. Lastly, Safe Work Australia has created a guide for small business owners about their safety responsibilities regarding COVID-19.  

The NSW Government website is constantly being updated with the current help and information available. Keep an eye out for more to come.
